Long before Rocky became a speaker, designer, or entrepreneur, he wanted to be a writer.
As a kid, he wrote love letters for his friends — until one of them tried to pass Rocky’s words off as his own and got exposed. That was the end of the side hustle, but not the love for storytelling.
Raised by two military parents, Rocky’s father made him read the newspaper out loud every day, planting the seeds of a writer’s voice early. He grew up inspired by Washington Post legends like David Aldridge, Mike Wilbon, and Tony Kornheiser — so much so, he entered college dreaming of a writing career.
But back then, writing didn’t pay like it should, and Rocky had bigger goals.
Still, the passion never left.
Writing is how Rocky reflects, processes, and connects — a quiet form of expression that grounds everything else he does.
These blogs are pieces of his mind, straight from the source.
